The new Sonata will soon be available at Stivers Hyundai, and we know that many of our customers will be comparing the 2024 Hyundai Sonata vs 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The Sonata continues to be one the best values among midsize sedans. But more and more of our customers are opting for hybrid vehicles as they strike a practical balance between a traditional car and going fully electric. This particularly true with the 2024 Hyundai Sonata and 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid due to the price difference. But that isn’t the case with the Sonata. The average customer will be looking at a price difference of between $1K and $2K, and that can the decision an easy one.
Outside of some badging variations, there are no real exterior differences when comparing the 2024 Hyundai Sonata vs 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. These are both four-door midsize sedans. In both cases, the ground clearance is 5.3 inches, the wheelbase is 111.8 inches and the length is 192.9 inches or a bit more than 16 feet. The available color palette is the same as well. LED headlamps and aluminum wheels are standard in both cases. With the hybrid, you have the choice of 16- or 17-inch wheels. With the standard model, you can opt for 19-inch wheels. You also have the option of the N Line, which is a performance-oriented model that boasts an exclusive and sporty appearance package.
The component differences of the 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid don’t lead to changes to the interior spaciousness. Both it and the 2024 Hyundai Sonata are five-passenger vehicles. Front headroom and legroom are 40.0 and 46.1 inches, respectively, and second-row headroom and legroom are 38.4 and 34.8 inches. Trunk space is 16 cubic feet. The base trims have cloth seats, an 8-inch touch screen and a six-speaker sound system. The hybrid also has dual-zone automatic climate control. That comes with the SEL trim with the standard model, and the SEL trim in both cases add heated and power-adjustable front seats. The Limited trim levels for both models are nearly identical with genuine leather upholstery, a genuine leather dash and cooled front seats. The hybrid also has a panoramic sunroof.
The standard 2024 Hyundai Sonata available at Stivers Hyundai has an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels and 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. The 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid instead has a six-speed automatic that sends power to the front wheels, an electric motor and 2.0-liter four-cylinder. These combine for 192 hp. It offers less torque at 151 lb.-ft., but is twice as fuel efficient.
Both models get the new dual 12.3-inch infotainment touch screens for 2024 along with all of the other infotainment bells and whistles that modern drivers expect. The standard suite of advanced driver aids is the same as well and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with intervention, blind-spot warning with intervention and much more. The SEL trims include a 10.25-inch screen and connected services. The Sonata Hybrid SEL also includes Hyundai Digital Key whereas the Sonata Hybrid requires you to add via an optional Convenience package. In both cases, the Limited trim level adds the aforementioned HUD but also a surround-view camera, a blind-spot camera, front and rear parking sensors and remote smart parking assist.
